The Buffalo Gap Chamber of Commerce (Friends of the Gap, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit) runs buffalogaptx.com. We are a small, volunteer-led organization, and we treat the information you share with us the way a good neighbor would: we use it to serve you and our community, and we do not sell it. This page explains what we collect and how we use it.
Information you give us
We collect information only when you choose to send it through a form on this site:
- Contact form: your name, email address and message.
- Volunteer form: your name, email address and phone number.
- Membership applications: the membership or business name, physical and mailing addresses, phone numbers, the primary (and any secondary) member’s name, email, cell number and birthday, and for businesses, a category, description and logo.
- Event registrations: the details requested on that event’s form.
Payments
Membership dues and contributions paid online are processed by PayPal. Your card details go directly to PayPal and are handled under PayPal’s privacy policy. We receive confirmation of the payment, but we do not store your full card number on this website.
Our Membership Directory
The membership application asks whether you want to be listed in our online directory. If you choose Yes, your listing details, such as business name, address, phone, website, category, description and logo, are shown publicly on this site. We do not publish birthdays, cell numbers or private member contact details. You can ask us to change or remove your listing at any time.
Information collected automatically
- Spam protection: our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to tell people from bots. reCAPTCHA collects information about your device and browser, subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Cookies: we use a small number of cookies needed for the site to work and to remember your cookie preferences. You can change those preferences at any time, and you can block or delete cookies in your browser.
- Server logs: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, to keep the site secure and running.
How we use your information
- To respond to your questions and requests.
- To process memberships, dues and contributions, and keep our membership records.
- To publish directory listings for members who ask to be listed.
- To share Chamber news, events and volunteer opportunities with members and volunteers.
- To protect the site from spam and abuse.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run this site and our programs (such as our website host, PayPal and Google reCAPTCHA), or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep membership records for as long as you are a member and afterward as needed for our nonprofit records. We keep other messages and form entries only as long as we need them to help you.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to remove your directory listing. Just email us at info@buffalogaptx.com.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Links to other websites
Our pages link to local businesses, partners and other organizations. Their websites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the update here and change the date at the top.
