Now the Buffalo Gap Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Buffalo Gap Historic Village and with the vital support of the Buffalo Gap Improvement Corporation, is bringing neighbors and visitors together for twelve days of education, entertainment and community. Community Conversation: Natural Resources
Join neighbors and local leaders at Copa at the Gap for an hour about the trees and natural resources that make Buffalo Gap what it is. Wes Schempf, woodland ecologist with Texas A&M Forest Service, will talk about caring for our native trees, from planting through the later years, with time for your questions. We will also hear about Buffalo Gap’s heritage irises and our Wildflower Fling. Wildflower seed packets and tree saplings will be available to take home. Frontier Education Day
Presented by Oracle
A hands-on day of frontier learning for school groups. Classes rotate between the Buffalo Hunters’ Camp and the Historic Village. The public is welcome at the camp on Saturday. School groups can reserve a spot with Holly Woodard at education@taylorcountyhistorycenter.org.
The camp site is generously provided by the Buffalo Gap Improvement Corporation.

Wildflower Fling
Pick up a free packet of wildflower seeds at any Heritage Days event, courtesy of the Natural Resources Committee of the Buffalo Gap Chamber of Commerce, and fling them around our community. Fall is the time to plant, and there is no better day to start than Texas Arbor Day, November 6th! Please keep it neighborly: plant in your own yard or anywhere the landowner says yes.
Few things are more special than a springtime drive along our Texas highways, surrounded by fields of wildflowers, especially our beloved state flower, the bluebonnet. Native wildflowers celebrate our regional identity, preserve our natural heritage, and foster community pride.

Buffalo Hunters' Camp Reenactment
Presented by Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau
Step into the 1880s at a living-history encampment with about 20 re-enactors and authentic campsite living. The day also brings an antique tractor show, a small herd of longhorns, a farmers’ market and entertainment. The Historic Village across the street is open too, so plan to visit both.
The camp site is generously provided by the Buffalo Gap Improvement Corporation.
